The Drama Centre offers support and encouragment to Redbridge schools in the pursuit of Artsmark
About Artsmark
this is a national award for arts excellence in schools awarded by Arts Council England
schools can apply for one of three standards - basic, silver, gold
applications are made annually and each award stands for three years
the arts subjects are - drama, music, art and design, dance
an Artsmark school will demonstrate provision in all four arts subjects
Applicant schools need:
- a whole school arts policy
- a clear management structure for all the arts
- development targets for the arts
- two referees - one from the LA
- Jim Knight, the Minister of State for Schools and Learners, also recognises the role of Artsmark:
- Artsmark is working really well. It provides opportunities for young people to have a wide range of experiences in the arts and encourages schools to involve the local community.
The Drama Centre can provide advice and assistance to schools during the application process
