Woza Albert is based on one dazzlingly simple idea-that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ took place in South Africa during the height of apartheid. The original production took cities in Europe, Africa and America by storm. playing to standing ovations every night.

The play’s physicality embraces knockabout humour as well as the daily danger and drudgery of South Africa as it was.  

This new production is led by Paul Jonathan Savage, whose roots in South Africa stretch back to the Market Theatre in Johanesburg at the time the play was originally conceived.
